How to move files and folders from the Files app or external disks to Jottacloud on iPhone and iPad

In this article we look at how you can move files and folders stored on your iPhone or iPad to Jottacloud, through the Files app. This also includes how to move files and folders from an external disk connected to your iOS device.

To move files and folders you must have activated Jottacloud in the Files app. You can read more about how to activate here.

How to move files and folders to Jottacloud with the Files app

There are several ways to move files and folders on iPhone and iPad. As an attempt to make this article as simple as possible, we will only look at one of these ways here.

  1. Go to the Files app on your iPhone or iPad

  2. Go to the location you want to move the file or folder from
    If you have an external disk connected, this will appear under "Locations" and you can move files and/or folders from it

  3. Move one file or folder

    • Click and hold the file or folder to open the options menu
      (If you have a mouse connected to your iOS device you can also right click to access the options menu)

    • Click "Move"

  4. Move several files and/or folders

    • On iPhone, click the action menu in the top right corner (3 dots)
      Then click "Select" in the action menu

    • On iPad, click "Select" in the top right corner

    • Select the files and/or folders you want to move by clicking them

    • On iPhone, click the folder icon in the bottom center

    • On iPad, click "Move" in the bottom center

  5. Click on Jottacloud and select where in Jottacloud you want to move the file or folder - Archive, Backup or Sync

  6. Move to an existing folder or a new folder

    • Move to existing folder
      Select the folder you want to move to by clicking it. Then click "Copy" in the top right corner

    • Move to new folder
      Click the new folder icon in the upper right corner. Give the folder a name and click "Done". Lastly, click "Copy" in the top right corner
