Information contained in logfiles

What information is stored in logfiles created by our service

When you send us logs, either yourself from Settings, or automatically if something goes wrong, we get a technical snapshot from this device to help investigate your issue. Depending on which app and features you use, it can include:

  • Names and folder paths of your files, folders, or photos. We see the full path, not just the specific items involved, but never the contents of your files.

  • Photo details. Camera and technical info (like camera model and exposure), where a photo was taken if that's saved on it, and information about recognized people or faces if that feature is turned on.

  • Your account and device information. Your username, device name, app and OS version, and, on a shared computer, other Windows accounts that have used the app on that machine.

  • A record of recent activity and errors in the app. Backups, syncing, archiving, manual transfers, comments and other activity on shared albums, which parts of the app you used, and any problems along the way.

  • App settings and basic technical details. Used to help us reproduce and fix your issue.

This only covers the app itself: never what's inside your files, or anything else on your device.
Automatic error reports (sent without you doing anything) are much smaller than this: usually just a description of the error itself.
